Strengthening Meru County’s Oxygen Ecosystem: Medware Solutions Joins Key Partners in Support Supervision Mission

As part of the County Government of Meru’s commitment to enhancing the oxygen ecosystem across its healthcare facilities, Health Services CECM Dr. Dennis Mugambi and Chief Officer of Health Dr. Joseph Wahome led a high-level joint support supervision mission. The delegation included representatives from Amref Health Africa, the Council of Governors (COG), and Medware Solutions, visiting key project sites at Nyambene Sub-County Hospital and Maua Methodist Hospital.
This transformative initiative, supported by the Global Fund in partnership with Amref Health Africa and the COG, aims to benefit eight hospitals across Meru County. Its goal is to significantly improve access to life-saving medical oxygen and strengthen the region’s capacity to manage respiratory and critical care cases.
Project Highlights
The oxygen infrastructure expansion project includes:
Distribution of medical oxygen cylinders
Installation of multiparameter patient monitors
Provision of pediatric oxygen splitters
Oxygen piping and wall-mounted flow meters for in-hospital delivery
Construction of central manifold systems
These enhancements are designed to support better patient care and ensure timely oxygen delivery, especially in emergency and high-dependency units.
Completion Timeline
Scheduled for completion by June 30, 2025, this project represents a significant step forward in fulfilling the health agenda of Meru Governor H.E. Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia, aimed at improving health service delivery and emergency preparedness across the county.
